No Shelter for Homeless Neighbors Out in the Cold

Housing El Dorado – Pathways 2022

While the winter holidays are a time for happiness, traditions and gatherings for many, our homeless neighbors on the western slope of El Dorado County are out in the cold and wet this winter season without shelter.

While the winter holidays are a time for happiness, traditions and gatherings for many, our homeless neighbors on the western slope of El Dorado County are out in the cold and wet this winter season without shelter.

To provide temporary emergency assistance, Housing El Dorado (HED) is pleased to again offer the Pathways Winter Lodging Program in partnership with the Upper Room and local participating churches. Over the past few months, Housing El Dorado (HED) has met several times with members of the faith community and other interested partners on the western slope to develop an emergency Winter Lodging Program for the un-housed residents of our community. Through these efforts, starting on January 1, 2022, we’ll be able to house approximately 15-20 people on Friday, Saturday and Monday nights at three churches. As more church sites become available, we will be able to add additional nights of winter shelter.

Charlie McDonald is serving as the Program Manager for this year’s Pathways Winter Lodging program. Charlie brings years of experience serving the homeless of the western slope and enthusiasm for his new venture. “While we would always like to see more nights covered, we are excited to be able to offer this much-needed service to the un-housed this winter.”

Housing El Dorado (HED) and the faith community need your help.

We need to raise approximately $80,000 from our generous community for the Pathways 2022 Winter Lodging Program. Housing El Dorado (HED) is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization under the guidance and fiduciary management of the El Dorado Community Foundation.
