We are on a roll. The first six months of the year we averaged 234 volunteer hours per month. For the month of July, a normally slow campaign month, we had 401 hours of volunteer time! To join us, call or stop by our headquarters.

This uptick is a great sign, but considering that nearly 80% of voters in El Dora-do County vote by mail and those ballots are mailed on or about October 6, there are effectively only about 63 days to engage and motivate voters to sup-port our tremendous candidates, Jessica Morse, Jackie Smith, and Carla Neal.

You can help now by making sure your children and like-minded family and friends are registered to vote. Check your status using the link on the right. If anyone still needs to register, you can do so online at: www.sos.ca.gov/elections/voter-registration/.

Volunteer for the candidates…

Jessica Morse: www.morse4congress.com/. You can volun-teer to assist with the Jessica Morse campaign via her website, or connect di-rectly with Nicole Demchishin at [email protected] Nicole is the newly hired Morse campaign coordinator for El Dorado County and she can tell you about a variety of current opportunities for you to get involved.

Jackie Smith, Assembly District 6: To get involved in directly supporting Jackie, please go to her website at www.Smith4assembly.com or contact her via email at [email protected] or call 916-741-9303.

Other ways to get involved…

Sierra Forward is a CD 4 organization of like-minded groups and individuals, regardless of party affiliation, that has been working for the past 14 months to increase voter engagement in the political and policy-making process, and to encourage civic leadership and support of the social, economic and environ-mental interests of the district. You can learn more abut this organization by going to:www.sierraforward.com/ or www.facebook.com/SierraForward4. You can contact Mary Klemm Elliott, the volunteer El Dorado County Coordinator for Sierra Forward, at [email protected]).

Sierra Forward House Parties: This is a friendly and enjoyable way to reach out to neighbors who are Democrats, Independent voters (the official term is No Party Preference), and moderate Republicans and invite them to your home for coffee and pastries or wine and cheese. You could also have a chance to meet and talk with Jessica Morse or a representative(s) from her campaign. Sierra forward as a volunteer team that organizes, facilitates, and helps you identify invitees to these house parties. They will even address the invitations! If you’d like to host a house party, especially in August or September, please contact the volunteer team leader, Staci Evans at [email protected]

California Away canvassing: Cal Away is continuing to knock on doors of registered Dems and mid-term ‘skippers,’ to have them sign Pledge-to Vote postcards that will be sent to them before November 6. (There are still 20,000 of them we haven’t reached in CA-04!) We have the following dates mapped out: August 18, 19, 25, 26 / September 15, 16, 29, 30/ October 6, 7, 13, 20, 21. Canvassing is going on in El Dorado Hills, Cameron Park, Placerville, and Pollock Pines. Please check your calendars and sign up. You can RSVP to www.calawayteam.com/volunteer_in_ca_04 or if the RSVP link is not yet set up, RSVP by responding to: [email protected] or contact Lorraine (916 220-2872) or Zoe (916-812-3574) or FaceBook: California Away Team

Numbers do matter, and we need to make every day and hour count. We all know that many hands make light work. The more volunteer assistance we provide, the more contact we have with voters, the more enthusiasm and support we will build to win this critically important November, 2018 election.
