Volunteer opportunity!

Can you spare a little time to help local workers advance their employment? We’ve heard via Becky Guinn, that Unite Here, Local 49 is seeking some help for local workers seeking career advancement.

Christina Rosas with Unite Here, Local 49 reports,”that almost (90%) of people do not have a resume already. On top of that there is a lack of access to computers and internet.  People are desperate for better work and could benefit immensely by simply having a resume.”

Christina is requesting assistance in developing and editing resumes and cover letters for individuals who are seeking work promotions and/or better employment positions, primarily in the hospitality and food service industry.

No experience is needed.  Christina and Unite Here will look over the resume you make before its gets sent in. In addition, sample resume templates and cover letters can be provided. This work can even be done from home.

If you’d like to volunteer, please call Christina on her cell phone, 412-328-1150 or email her at [email protected]

 “No more government shutdowns!”

Our Representative in Congress, Tom McClintock, voted 12 times to keep the government shut down over the last month. While Trump finally relented, we could be back in the same mess in three weeks unless Congress takes action now.Every day the government was shut down, the U.S Forest Service was not working to prevent the next round of catastrophic wildfires from destroying our communities, and the Park Service was not protecting or managing OUR lands.

When the government was shut down, the FBI, TSA, air traffic controllers and the Coast Guard were all hobbled. Tax refunds were not processed. Thousands of our neighbors were sitting at home, looking for jobs, or forced to work without pay. The shutdown cost the U.S. economy $11 billion. All for a wall that we don’t need or want, and that Mexico was supposed to pay for!

Tom McClintock once again sacrificed his constituents and communities for far-right ideology and allegiance to Donald Trump. Tell him you expect him to start representing the people and lands of the 4th district, by voting against any more government shutdowns!

That’s why I signed a petition to The United States House of Representatives and Representative Tom McClintock, which says:

“No more government shutdowns!”

Will you sign the petition, too? Click here to add your name:

Thanks!   Frank
